Welcome to Second Grade!
Our first few weeks of school include a lot of community building and the introduction of many daily routines.
Our daily schedule looks something like this:
9:30-9:45 Morning Work, Attendance and other Morning Business
9:45-10:10 Morning Meeting (We follow the Responsive Classroom Model)
10:10-11:45 Reader's Workshop (We incorporate the Daily Five model during this reading block.)
11:50-12:50 Lunch and Recess
12:50-1:10 Planners and Homework (We write in our planners every day. Please help your child get in the habit of reading what he or she wrote with you.)
1:10-2:10 Math

* (Kral, Lund and Levy) 2:10-2:30 Art, Health, Science and Social Studies (A lot of the concepts for these subjects will be incorporated in our math and reading instruction.)

*(Hodsdon and Miller) 2:40-3:00 Art, Health, Science and Social Studies (A lot of the concepts for these subjects will be incorporated in our math and reading instruction.)
